10:21 AM William Overton made a motion to open the meeting
Dennis Probst seconded the motion. Meeting opened.
- Treasury Report: The treasury report balance is $1771.07. All of the expenses for fiscal year 2008 are included. Accepted by Herb Neelman, seconded by Bill Ruffin.
- Old Business: David Rychalsky read the minutes from the 07 December 2008 meeting. Minutes were accepted by Herb Neelman and seconded by William Overton.
- New Business: David Rychalsky opened the floor to discuss a variety of topics for NAMBA District 1 racing:
- Discussions ensued concerning 2010 NAMBA Nationals and co-sharing the event with District 11. Dave Rychalsky read over 50 tasks that are required to run a national event. Everyone in attendance provided some input as to the pros and cons of hosting a nats. Since the attendance is low for this meeting, the list will be included with the minutes for other district members to view and formulate a meeting.
- William Overton mentioned that hes enjoying himself, and smiled.
- Dave Rychalsky mentioned that this is the year when we all vote for NAMBA president and vice president. In addition, members of district 1 are supposed to vote for a district director. Dave Rychalsky made a point that he would be open to anyone else wanting to run for director. Therefore, if any active district 1 member would be interested in being director, you will need 10 signatures for nomination.
- Dave Rychalsky mentioned the WRAM Show. William Overton talked about the low attendance at the WRAM Show, along with a very small group of vendors / manufacturers and re-sellers. William did mention that it was a positive event that yielded a number of people coming by to talk about model boating.
The following motion was discussed and seconded:
Motion 1 made by Dave Rychalsky, seconded by Herb Neelman.
Amend district 1 general rule # 38: District Meetings: Fall meetings will be held in December. Spring meetings will be held in February. Both meetings will start at approximately 10:00 A.M. The District Director shall have the authority to move each meeting date one-week - either backward or forward, to avoid conflict with Holidays or other extenuating circumstances. The District Director shall make every effort to notify club secretaries and chairmen of any change should the need for a date change arise at the last moment. The motion reads: The District Meeting will be held in early February. The race schedule, motions and all district business will be discussed. Motions will be made with legal clubs / race teams providing their vote(s) by US mail or email PRIOR to the 31st of March to the district director. Explanation: There isnt a need to hold two district meetings a year. All district business can be discussed and resolved with one meeting. The popularity of the internet allows voting to be accomplished in a timely manner.
This motion will be discussed throughout the year with club votes being accepted after 16 April 2009.
The following are the results of the motions from the
07 December 2008. (Note: two clubs were not present but proxy emails were
received.) The results are as follows:
- The 2009 Race Schedule was finalized and some sanctions were handed in.
11:50AM Herb Neelman made a motion to adjourn the meeting
